My Bum Feels Nice on This

My Bum Feels Nice on This

Nine available ‘My Bum Feels Nice on This’ (MBFNOT) weaves are hand woven on a peg loom with handfuls of Cotswold, Teeswater or black Romney fleece sourced raw from British breeders and farmers.

Blocks and pops of colour come from plant-dyes: woad, weld and chamomile grown by Georgina, at her studio in Nottingham.

The natural curls of the Longwool fleece spill from the weave creating a soft, springy cushion without stuffing - they are designed to be used on a seat, to bring comfort and pleasure to the sitter (especially whilst working at a desk on a laptop).

In some MBFNOT weaves the yarn used for the hidden warp has been fashioned into a fancy fringe to hang down from a chair or stool.

There are two sides to a MBFNOT weave: but no up, down, right or wrong side. One side is usually lively and curlier with locks springing free; the other is more compact with soft pillow-like pleats of woven fleece.

Please don’t be afraid to use a MBFNOT weave; it will improve with sitting! They will become more compact and firmer with time.

MBFNOT are also designed for very infrequent washing if at all; wool is forgiving with regards to odour! If you feel your MBFNOT weave is stained or desperate for a bath, wash gently in warm water by hand with a gentle natural soap or detergent. Colours may run a little.

Some fibres or warp ends may come loose from a MBFNOT weave during use and if handled roughly - they are handmade from unspun wool. We recommend handling them with love - as they have been made!

Little Coloured Balls

Little Coloured Balls

'Little Coloured Balls' bring plant-dyed colour to your pocket, from plants grown by Georgina at her studio in Nottingham - or foraged in the UK.

Hand-felted from Alpaca, the soft ball provides a tactile contrast to the wire and metal of keys. Assembled on a strong wire keyring, the firm, springy ball can be pushed along to create different sculptural shapes with the keys.

Available in twelve different colours including shades of yellow, pink, blue, orange, pale purple, brown and grey.

Blanket for Delilah

Blanket for Delilah

A bed-full of plant leaves - from the first crop of woad grown by Georgina at her studio - were used to dye an antique blanket from an artist's residency in Portugal. A large, improvised woad vat was made from an old water butt, into which the blanket was submerged several times then hung in open air for the indigo content to oxidise.

Due to the size of the blanket, the woad dye was taken up unevenly, causing a patterned effect: leaf-like, it remembers its extraordinary dye source. In places, an unusual pink-violet colour overlaps with white and blue.

Initially created to respond to the story of Delilah and Samson, the blanket for a single bed is stitched from top to bottom in a line and circle pattern from yellow, hand-spun alpaca yarn dyed with weld. A simple running stitch, made by eye, there is no back or front to the blanket: the circles cross lines without knotting or tying yarn.
